sutton is 13 months old. 13 MONTHS OLD. people, do you hear me? how and when did this happen? i'd really like to know. and, she isn't a baby anymore. she is morphing into this toddler/little sassy lady who flirts with older men (i'm not talking her daddy's age older men, i'm talking her grandpa's age older men) and is especially drawn to ones with grey hair. don't ask...i have no clue. yesterday we went to visit dr moshofsky for her 12 month check up. yes, i know it was a month late. i wanted to put off the FOUR shots she had to get for as long as possible. then i realized i would feel really bad if she got chicken pox or measles because she didn't get her immunizations on time so i reluctantly took her in. dr moshofsky has an incredibly sweet nurse who has seen sutton every she has gone in for a visit. she usually likes her but yesterday you would have thought she was cruella deville by the way sutton was acting. she screamed when she got measured and weighed. and obviously neither event caused her any physical pain. she must have baby psychic powers and knew that shots were coming. eeek! she finally calmed down when the nurse left and we had a little snack and a snuggle while we waited for the dr. and then he came. and she was SO happy to see him. for once i am not being sarcastic :) she was giggling and showing him all the tricks she can do. she let him poke at her belly, shine a bright light in her eyes, peek around in her ears and mouth...and all willingly. he is a pretty cool guy (*and yes, he is probably old enough to be a grandfather and guess what color hair he has??) so it's completely understandable that she feels comfortable with him. as ridiculously funny as she was acting, i am thankful that she gets to see such a great pediatrician. he came highly recommended by several of my friends and even one of my clients who took her children to him when he first started practicing many years ago. can't say i blame her. like i mentioned above, she got FOUR shots. two in each leg. luckily she calmed down pretty quickly with a bottle and a trip to Target. baby girl likes Target, what can i say?
Blue's 13 month stats are:
height 29 1/2 inches (41%)
weight 22 lbs 11.5 oz (81%)
she is developing perfectly and above the game on her vocabulary according to dr moshofsky. i'm hoping she will be a chatterbox and i have a feeling she will not disappoint. she says mama, dada, doggie, tucker, jaxson, water, yeah, hello, chandra, baba, nana (for banana) and a few others. she still loves to sit in her crib and read books and has actually started to show more interest in her toys. she LOVES puppies and every morning when i go into her room she gives me a brief smile and then is looking for her doggies. i'm not jealous. well, maybe just a bit. she literally lights up when she sees them. one of her favorite things to do is to get into the pantry (when the lock isn't latched) and get the dogs a treat. she knows which bag is theirs, how to open it and how to hold the treats so they can gingerly take it out of her hands. they sure aren't that gentle when i feed them something! it makes her happy and the dogs especially happy so it's safe to say that we are going through a lot more dog treats these days. she is getting better at standing and cruising around furniture. today she stood by herself for the longest time yet. she was even doing squats and keeping herself balanced enough to get down low and then stand up again. she took one step but i don't know if you can really call it a true step because she fell forward and immediately sat down but wanted to keep trying. i bet she will be walking in two weeks. i'd like her to wait as long as possible because i am so in love with her little pirate/chimpanzee scoot that she does. i will have to post a video of it. in no way does my crappy description give it the accolades it deserves! she is starting to wear out the left knee of all her pants because of the way she drags it on the ground. it may just be one of the funniest things i have ever seen. and i've seen some funny things.
